The Savannah Rapids Visitor Center is located in Columbia County, Georgia
overlooking the picturesque Augusta Canal Headgates and the Savannah River.
Located inside the building that was originally the Gatekeeper¹s Cottage,
the Visitor Center is the only state certified visitor center in Columbia
County. Available for anyone who wishes to visit, the center offers
informational brochures for the entire state of Georgia as well as the local
CSRA. In addition to visitor information you will see a re-creation of what
the Gatekeeper¹s bedroom would have been like when he lived and worked
here. You will also see a pictoral history of Columbia County and the
significance of the Augusta Canal to the City of
Augusta and the surrounding areas. View quarterly displays of the area.
